URGENT ACTION ALERT – Sept. 20th

GEORGIA INSIGHT – ACTION ALERT!

YOU MUST ACT TODAY!
——SUBJECT: DEFUND Sustainable Development Projects (Agenda 21)

UN resolutions AFFECTING AMERICAN PROPERTY RIGHTS are being implemented without congressional authority.

Funding for these UN projects has been STOPPED IN THE FY 2012 FUNDING BILL THAT PASSED THE U.S. HOUSE AND MUST PASS THE U.S. SENATE.

CALL GEORGIA’S U.S. SENATORS, ASKING THEM TO VOTE YES ON THE FY 2012 FUNDING BILL TO STOP FUNDING THE UN AGENDA FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, which includes such projects as the installation of smart meters.

THE FY 2012 FUNDING BILL PASSED THE HOUSE AND THE SENATE MAY VOTE ON IT TODAY.  IT DEFUNDS GRANTS FOR IMPLEMENTING THIS UN AGENDA.

ACT TODAY! CONTACT:

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Sustainable Development is a UN initiative, a jobs killer and it destroys infrastructure – refusing to build roads, tearing down dams and the like.

Success on this issue will strike a huge blow against Sustainable Development, which is the UN Agenda 21, that was never authorized by Congress.

Message from Tom DeWeese, President, American Policy Center:

The Senate must maintain the House restrictions on the sustainability planning grants and the caps on planning expenses now called for in the Fiscal Year spending bill. America cannot afford these grants. The cuts will save billions of dollars and keep special interests out of your community’s planning decisions. Tell them you oppose Sustainable Development.

Make the calls and counter the impact of the APA, one of the nation’s most powerful forces behind Sustainable Development. Passage of FY 2012 (as passed the House) will turn the tide away from top down control and soviet-style government – and towards freedom!

If you have a chance, call your Representative in the House and thank them for standing firm against this Sustainable Development monster. And ask them to continue to stand firm if the final bill goes to a conference committee. Defund Sustainable Development and strike a blow for fiscal sanity and freedom.

Thank you for reading,

ACTION ALERT – August 22nd

ACT, immediately! H.R. 1249 Weakens U.S. Patent Laws!

“Since 1790, the patent law has operated on the premise that rights in an invention belong to the inventor…. Although much in intellectual property law has changed in the 220 years since the first Patent Act, the basic idea that inventors have the right to patent their inventions has not.”
U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, Opinion Issued August 2011

In addition to the opinion of Chief Justice Roberts, seven scholarly law review articles outline the unconstitutionality of H.R. 1249. Their conclusions are based on Article 1, Sec. 8, Clause 8 of the Constitution that requires Congress to protect “inventors,” not someone handing a piece of paper to a government bureaucrat, as would be allowed if H.R. 1249 passes.

The mischief of H.R. 1249: It will “harmonize” U.S. Patent laws with laws of other countries.
Who wants to do that? Large corporations
Why do they want the change? So the patent system will work in favor of large corporations, instead of providing protection for small inventors.
The effects of H.R. 1249: It would be (a) easier for foreigners to infringe patents, (b) easier to subject patent rights to legal challenges, and (c) more expensive for inventors to defend their patents.

ACTION: Contact Senator Chambliss and Senator Isakson while they are in recess. Congress reconvenes September 6th.
The message: Ask them to vote NO on cloture for H.R. 1249, when the Senate takes it up after Labor Day. Cloture would end the debate and a vote would be taken. If H.R. 1249 passes the Senate, U.S. Patent laws would be changed to fit foreign laws.
(Note: This is very serious. H.R. 1249 passed the House 304 to 117 on June 23rd.)

URGENT ACTION ALERT | July 10th

Urgent: Act Now to Retain U.S. Light Bulbs!

Effective in 2012, federal regulations would require the elimination of 276 versions of the Thomas Edison incandescent light bulb.  If the regulations remain in effect, American-made light bulbs consumers have bought and used since they were invented would no longer be available.  Consumers would be expected to buy and use China-made dangerous, mercury-containing, much more expensive, dimmer fluorescent bulbs that are environmentally hazardous when broken.

H.R. 2417 would repeal that regulation.

ACTION – Ask Georgia Congressmen to vote YES on the “Bulb Act,” H.R. 2417 that could come up for a vote as early as Monday, July 11, 2011.

Call Capitol switchboard at 202 224-3121 or their offices listed below.

March 28th ACTION ALERT

H.B. 200 must be amended or underage individuals under age 18 will NOT be charged for participating in prostitution, pornography, and other sexually explicit conduct.  They will be classified as “victims” and made eligible for state and federal victim compensation funds.

The following simple amendment will fix the problem:
Change age 18 to age 13 on page 2 line 62 of H.B. 200

Message to the Senate Rules Committee members:
Keep H.B. 200 in committee until age 18 is lowered to age 13 on page 2 line 62.
