“Trans” Accommodations?

Radio Commentary, 90.7, 91.7 New Life FM, June 16, 2017 – By Sue Ella Deadwyler

Although the Georgia General Assembly has adjourned, bills introduced but not handled this year remain alive for next year, including over a hundred that were introduced the last day of the session.

One of those bills, Representative Golick’s H.B. 629, was assigned to the House Judiciary committee, where Mr. Golick is not only a member, but is a subcommittee chairman, as well. The title of H.B. 629 is the “Georgia Civil Rights in Public Accommodations Act,” and its subject is restrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities that are open to the public.

As introduced, H.B. 629 would create a new chapter in Georgia law to prohibit discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin in public facilities, which would not change Georgia’s current system.  However, H.B. 629 might have been introduced, specifically, to be amended next session.  Note that the bill does not include a separate category for “sex,” since males and females are treated equally in each of the categories already listed.  But please remember: While sex is a biological fact that identifies male and female, gender denotes variant sexual behavior. However, if the word “sex” were amended onto the four categories listed in H.B. 629, it would not be defined as the biological identity of male or female, but would be redefined to include sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and transgender – which indicate aberrant sexual behaviors.  If H.B. 629 were amended with sex that’s defined to include those lifestyles, sexual behavior would supersede and displace facilities designated for males and females, and transform them into all-gender accommodations, regardless of cultural opposition.

Such a change is evident at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where the university (a) lists 47 all-gender restrooms, (b) apparently, with none designated for males or females.  It (c) promotes a “preferred name” policy for internationals and transgender males and females who want a name-change to reflect a non-biological identity.  (d) Wesleyan President Michael Roth announced the creation of the Queer Resource Center (e) for its LGBTQQFAGIPBDSM population, (e) all of whom are invited to access its “endless acronym” site to add more letters to the list of orientations.

Question: Why would Wesleyan, that’s said to be a Christian university, put LGBT preferences above Bible morality and, actively endorse, promote, encourage and enable alternate lifestyles for students?  With H.B. 629 and six sexual orientation bills remaining alive for next session, Georgia voters and legislators face serious cultural issues in 2018, which is, also, an election year.  For Georgia Insight, I’m Sue Ella Deadwyler, your Capitol correspondent.
